Week 7 Assignments - May 7, 2020
Hey HS Classes!
It was so nice to see a few of you on Wednesday while I was at school monitoring the locker clean out on the 800 hall. It made me realize even more just how much I miss seeing your faces everyday. I have always enjoyed the final weeks of school and I bet you all have as well. Whether you are a teacher or a student, I know you are all ready for a break! This has been such a strange end to a school year! Don’t forget that our goal right now is to ensure that students are doing everything they need to do to finish the school year strong. Every assignment matters and can benefit a student, so keep working. The end of middle school is near the countdown is on! Email Ms. G Please be sure to email me when you finish assignments that have been marked “I” for incomplete in Infinite Campus (IC). All you really need to say is which assignment has been completed. I send a return email to let you know the assignment has been graded and IC updated. Assignments This week our focus is on electricity. I have added an instruction video for this week on my website to ensure that students understand assignment expectations. Help Sessions & Zoom Meetings

Week 6 Assignments - April 30, 2020
Hey HS Classes!
I cannot believe we are in week six of remote learning. I don’t think any of us could have imagined this situation. And though we aren’t finished yet, I want to share how grateful I am to you for taking care of business. Overall, you are handling this switch in learning environment beautifully. A few of you have talked with me about how much you miss going to school and seeing your teachers each day. It really does make a difference when we see each other often. Getting a true picture of your level of understanding about a topic is SO much harder for me when I cannot see your faces. :-) I am so proud of how proactive you all have been with managing your tasks, asking me questions, and emailing me to share if you are struggling. These skills are exactly what we always hope 8th graders will demonstrate before we send them off to high school. Don’t forget that our goal right now is to ensure that students are doing everything they need to do to finish the school year strong. Every assignment matters and can benefit a student, so keep working. The end of middle school is in sight! Email Ms. G Please be sure to email me when you finish assignments that have been marked “I” for incomplete in Infinite Campus (IC). All you really need to say is which assignment has been completed. I send a return email to let you know the assignment has been graded and IC updated. Assignments This week our focus is on magnetism. I have added an instruction video for this week to ensure that students understand assignment expectations. Help Sessions & Zoom Meetings

Week 5 Assignments - April 23, 2020
Hey HS Classes!
I hope this message finds all of you doing well and staying healthy. I could see many of you working diligently to get your assignments finished before the test this past week. I loved getting emails from you about work turned-in when you accomplished another assignment. Y'all kept me very busy!! :-) I am incredibly proud of my classes! You have been faced with so many obstacles of late and you are doing an amazing job! Please keep up the good work. A few of you out there are struggling, but I can't walk up to your desk or make you come in at lunch to finish work. I do not want any of my students in danger of summer school OR deciding not to take the credit for this high school class. The BEST way to prevent this is by doing ALL of your work. I think you would all agree we have dealt with enough this school year. You need your summer off. If ANY of the situations in the list below apply to you join the Zoom Meeting tomorrow at 11:30 am:
Assignments You will find the lesson plan for this week by clicking the "HS Physical Science Remote Lesson Week 5" button below. The main activity this week is taking the Waves, Sound & Light Test in Illuminate. Then, after the test, you will kick off our last unit on Magnetism and Electricity with some vocabulary work. It will be electrifying! Ha! Grading Update

I will also email students and comment in the stream portion of Google Classroom when I see questions during the help session time-frame. Please remember I am also available via email when you have questions outside of the help session. Just know, it may take a few hours for me to get back to you. Take care, Ms. G |

Week 3 Assignments - April 2, 2020
Hey HS Classes!
I know you all must be ready for some time off! I know I am! Our break this year may look different, but enjoy the time. NO SCHOOL - Seriously, everyone needs to unplug and reset before we return for the last portion of the school year. So, have a fantastic spring break! Please know that everyone is learning as we push forward with remote learning. I can tell that some of you are thriving with this set-up. However, if you are struggling DO NOT hesitate to get in touch with me. I have been playing with the remote learning page again this week. Suffice it to say, I'm having a blast with it! I added links for trivia and science facts, a few favorite science songs and some stuff about space. Yes, I'm a science geek and loving it! :-) Look to the right and enjoy... Assignments & Grading You will find the lesson plan for this week by clicking the "HS Physical Science Remote Lesson Week 3" button below. Most assignments have been placed in Google Classroom, but you will take another quiz in Illuminate. There are pieces of each assignment that you will need to download, save to your device, add your responses to, and then upload to Google Classroom so that you can turn it in to me. All of the assignment due dates for this week were set for Thursday, April 16. This should give you the time and opportunity to go in and work on each task. Please DO NOT wait to get started as you will receive more assignments each week until we return to school. As you turn-in your work I will be grading and adding scores to Infinite Campus ("T" for turned-in, "M" for missing and "I" for incomplete). Please DO NOT wait to get these tasks done! The work will compound as we move forward. Help Session

Week 2 Assignments - March 26, 2020
Hello again HS Science Classes!
I hope you had a good week despite everything that has been going on. You all have been on my mind everyday and I am hoping to see many of you during the Zoom session on Thursday. I have been looking through Google Classroom and I'm super proud of the work you are doing! If you are struggling DO NOT hesitate to get in touch with me. I know it seems that this health crisis is unending, but this virus will eventually run its course. Let's choose to think positive and have faith that everything will be ok. With the rain from Monday and Tuesday behind us, I am happy to be writing this update from my back patio. I have shared a video about our hiking adventure last weekend. My family needed to get out of the house after being cooped-up all week. We are discovering that time together in close quarters is both good and bad. Luckily, for us more good than bad. :-) You'll find that I go into teacher mode a bit in the video, but I couldn't help myself. There were so many fun "Sciency" things happening. I just had to share. Being out in nature with my kids, watching the water plummet thousands of feet (Oh, the potential energy!), and the spring equinox. We hiked up over 600 steps and multiple ramp pathways to get to the top. Whew! And, my hip did great! This was my first hike since the surgery. This week I have added a few new things to the remote learning page - Look to the right and enjoy... Please be nice to your parents they are trying to make sure everything in your life is running how it is supposed to even with this situation.
