FOR ANYONE THAT HAS AN INCOMPLETE in the grade book, now is the time to get that work turned-in. Please look at the lesson plan below by clicking the blue button. Week 5 Assignments - April 23, 2020
Hey 1st Period!
I hope this message finds all of you doing well and staying healthy. I could see many of you working diligently to get your assignments finished before the test this past week. I loved getting emails from you about work turned-in when you accomplished another assignment. A few of you out there are struggling, but I can't walk up to your desk to help you right now. I also can't make you come in at lunch to finish work. I do not want any of my students in danger of summer school and the BEST way to prevent this is by doing ALL of your work. I think you would all agree we have dealt with enough this school year. You need your summer off. If any of the situations in the list apply to you join the Zoom Meeting tomorrow at 11:30 am:
Assignments You will find the lesson plan for this week by clicking the "8th Grade Remote Learning Lesson Week 5" button below. The main activity this week is taking the Waves, Sound & Light Test in Illuminate. Then, after the test, you will kick off our last unit on Magnetism and Electricity with some vocabulary work. It will be electrifying! Ha! Grading Update

Week 3 Assignments - April 2, 2020
Hey 1st Period!
I know you all must be ready for some time off! I know I am! Our break this year may look different, but be sure to enjoy the time. NO SCHOOL - Seriously, everyone needs to unplug and reset before we return for the last portion of the school year. So, have a fantastic spring break! Please know that everyone is learning as we push forward with remote learning. Some of you are completely up-to-date with your assignments and thriving in this remote learning set-up. However, if you are struggling you should get in touch with me. It is not the worst thing to struggle. What is worse is not doing anything about your struggle when Ms. G is ready to help. I have been playing with the remote learning page again this week. I'm having a blast with it! I added a few videos and some review stuff. Look to the right and enjoy... Assignments & Grading You will find the lesson plan for this week by clicking the "Remote Learning Lesson Plan Week 3" button below. Most assignments have been placed in Google Classroom, but you may choose to use your textbook or go to explorelearning.com to play with a Gizmo. Please DO NOT wait to get started as you will receive more assignments each week until we return to school. As you turn-in your work I will be grading and adding scores to Infinite Campus ("T" for turned-in, "M" for missing and "I" for incomplete). Please DO NOT wait to get these tasks done! The work will compound as we move forward. Help Session

Week 2 Assignments - March 26, 2020
Hello 1st Period!
I hope you had a good week despite everything that has been going on. You all have been on my mind everyday and I am hoping to see many of you during the Zoom session on Thursday. I have been looking through Google Classroom and the assignments that have been turned-in look great! If you are struggling DO NOT hesitate to get in touch with me. I know it seems that this health crisis is unending, but this virus will eventually run its course. Let's choose to think positive and have faith that everything will be ok. My family is discovering that time together in close quarters is both good and bad. Luckily, for us more good than bad. :-) That being said, we needed to get out of the house after being cooped-up all of last week. So, we went on a hiking adventure at Amicalola Falls. I just had to share a video with you! It was so much fun! Being out in nature with my kids, watching the water plummet thousands of feet (Oh, the potential energy!), and the spring equinox. We hiked up over 600 steps and multiple ramp pathways to get to the top. Whew! And, my hip did great! This was my first hike since the surgery. This week I have added a few new things to the remote learning page - Look to the right and enjoy... Assignments & Grading You will find the lesson plan for this week by clicking the "Remote Learning Lesson Plan Week 2" button below. The assignments for this week can be found in Google Classroom, in Unit 4 Weblinks (review games) and you will take a quiz in Illuminate. Only one assignment will need to be downloaded and saved to your device before you add your responses to it. Don't forget you will need to upload your document to Google Classroom so that you can turn it in to me. All of the assignment due dates for this week were set for Monday, April 20. This should give you the time and opportunity to go in and work on each task. Differentiated resources have been provided for this week and are located in 8th Grade Weblinks Unit 4 - Waves on this website AND as a material shared with students in Google Classroom. Help Session
Via email on Thursdays from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Zoom Session from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm. Last week during my help session I emailed many students and also commented in the stream portion of Google Classroom when I saw questions. I am also be available via email when you have questions outside of the help session. Just know, it may take a few hours for me to get back to you. I'll be sending a link to the Zoom session via Infinite Campus. LAST CALL FOR RECOVERY If you needed to recover the Unit 4a Test from March 3 and have not already been in touch with me about this please follow the instructions on pg 2 of the "Recovery Poster Directions PP." You may email a picture of your poster OR you may use an online poster maker like Padlet or Piktochart. Remember if you failed the test you should recover Unit 4a. If you earned a 70-79 it is optional whether you complete recovery. Because of the situation we are all in I have extended the recovery window to Thursday, March 26. At that time, I will no longer accept recovery assignments. This is all I have to share for now. Get in touch if you need me I'm just an email away. :-) Take care, Ms. G |
